The Department of Economics was started in 1968 and offering under graduate programmes. The Department offers non-major elective course I & II for other major students as Economics for competitive examinations I & II and students are writing their examinations only through online. Computer Course and Tally courses are introduced for the welfare of the student’s community. All the students are studying under “Choice Based Credit System”.Our department is a Research Department from 2011 onwards.Dr.S.ShanthiGetzie and Dr.S.Seethalakshmi are the recognized guides to guide both M.Phil. (PT) and Ph.D.(FT & PT) scholars in Economics. Allthestaffmembers are presenting papers and attending seminars / conferences /workshops (both National and International) .
To establish the Department of Economics as a center of quality teaching and produce socially, responsible students with sound knowledge in Economic Theory and its Applications.
To train the students to think independently so that they are able to correlate economic theory with current economic affairs.
