A Two day workshop on NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) Reaccreditation was organized on 14 & 15 December 2012 in Bishop Heber College, Tiruchirapalli. The Chief Guest Dr.E.Ramganesh, Director i/c, Council for College & Curriculum Development, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, lucidly explained the seven criteria under which the NAAC assessment of autonomous colleges will be carried out. Then, participants were divided into fourteen groups and SWOC (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Challenges) analyses were carried out. On the second day of the programme,Prof D.K. Jeyakar Chellaraj, Former Principal, Bishop Heber College and the International Trainer for Haggai Institute, delivered a motivational address on the Quest for Excellence and the Role of Teachers in Enhancing Teaching Skills.
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell in collaboration with Research and Development Cell of Bishop Heber College organized a One-day International Symposium on “Partnership in Higher Education: Opportunities and Challenges” on 28. Feb 2013. This symposium aimed to use the expertise and resources of the higher education community in order to enhance the quality and impact of learning and teaching, through bringing together people and resources to research and sharing best practices observed by institutions of higher education around the globe, and by helping to influence, shape and implement educational policies.
Dr.John Brinkman Dean of Science & Social Sciences, Liverpool Hope University, UK, spoke on “Partnership in Higher Education : Opportunities in U.K”. He stressed on the need for equality, trust and goal setting in partnership.Then,Dr.Karunanithi, Associate Dean VIT Vellore spoke on‘Institution & Faculty Preparation for International Collaborations.Later, Dr.Anita Madhok, Director, Open Space Consulting Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai briefed about “International Linkages Opportunities and Challenges”. The post lunch session was headed by Dr. Subramania Babu, from VIT Vellore.
An Academic Audit was carried out on 5h March 2013 for the entire 17 departments under the chairmanship of former Principal Dr. Marcus Diepen Boominathan to assess the quality initiatives, sustenance and enhancement measures in the context of the 7 NAAC criteria.
As a part of IT initiative, IQAC developed new software namely “Staff Profile” exclusively for the storage of data of faculty members pertaining to their teaching learning process, research outputs, awards and recognition, co- curricular and extra- curricular aspects etc.
