Capt. T. SAHAYA SELVARAJ
SENA MEDAL(Posthumous)


     Capt. T. SAHAYA SELVARAJ graduated from Bishop Heber College in April 2000. He joined the Indian Army through the NCC Special Entry scheme and passed out as an officer from the Officer’s Training Academy on 7th Sep 2002. He was selected for the prestigious EME corps and was posted to 4 GARHWAL RIFLES, which was intensely involved in the counter insurgency operation
“OP PARAKHAM RAKSHAK.”

     In 2001, he was selected to undergo his training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) Chennai. On 07th Sep 2002, he passed out as lieutenant in EME corp. Then for combat training, he was posted to 4 Gharwal rifles located in J&K. He did it with selfless vigor and total commitment.

     On 6th May 2003 he was killed in action trying to make India a bit more secure. The late Capt. T. SAHAYA SELVARAJ’S career lasted only nine months but he will live on forever. For his brave deeds on the field and his supreme sacrifice, he was awarded the SENA MEDAL by the President of India, posthumously.

     Faced with a choice between the life and death, Capt. T. SAHAYA SELVARAJ chose death with honor and fulfillment of duty. He is one of the sons of India who have laid down their lives to make this a safer country. We the Heberians are proud to belong to the college that was his Alma Mater.

Lt. N. PARTHIBAN
KIRTI CHAKRA (Posthumous)


     Lieutenant N. Parthiban was born on 21st August 1983 to Major (Retd). V.Natrajan and Mrs.Tamilselvi. He did his schooling in K.V.Kharprail (W.B) and KV IIT Madras and was a graduate of Bishop Heber College, Trichy. He joined Officers Training Academy, Chennai on 08 August 2005, completed his rigorous training for 42 weeks, passed out as an Army Officer from the academy on 18th March 2006 and joined his unit 5 JAKLI (Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry). He did counter insurgency and jungle was fare course at CIJW School, and was deployed on Line of Control in Guroz sector, North Kashmir.

     ON 7th October 2006 at around 0630 hrs, few hardcore Pakistani terrorists attempted to cross the Line of Control. However the crossing did was successfully foiled by own troops under the able leadership of Lt. N. Parthiban. Realinzing their infiltration bid foiled, the panic stricken terrorists fired upon Lt. N. Parthiban, which severely injured the officer. Despite being wounded, the officer unmindful of his personal safety conducted the operation which resulted in the elimination of four hardcore terrorists and huge cache of arms and ammunitions were acquired from the slain Pakistani terrorists.

     Lt. N. Parthiban was a soldier of unparallel courage, conspicuous bravery, inspiring leadership and unflinching dedication to his duty that made supreme sacrifice for the nation in the true traditions of the Indian Army. Lt. N. Parthiban was awarded Kirti Chakra (Posthumous) for his bravery action against terrorism by the President of India. We, the Heberians are proud of him.
