Prof. A. ALAGAPPA MOSES is an Associate Professor and Head in the Post Graduate and Research Department of Environmental Sciences, Bishop Heber College, Tiruchirappalli since 6 th August 1986 to till date.

He is a Functional Area Expert accredited by the Quality Council of India (QCI) – National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET) as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Empanelled Functional Area Expert (FAE) in the field of Ecology and Biodiversity (EB) for Category ‘A’ Projects.

He is a member of the District Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (DEIAA) for grant of Environmental Clearance for “B2” projects for mining of minor minerals in Tiruchirappalli District.

He served as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator in Integrated Environmental Research Programme on River Cauvery (1989 to 1992), Inventory of Point and non-Point sources of Pollution in River Cauvery from Hogainackal to Poompuhar (1990 – 1992), Water Quality Monitoring Programme in River Cauvery (1997 – 2003) and Environmental Assessment of Kalrayan Hills using RS and GIS, Eastern Ghats, Tamilnadu (1999 – 2002) sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Govt. of India, New Delhi and Pudukkottai Fishermen Community Development Project (1991 – 1994) sponsored by World Vision of India.

He served as the Co-Ordinator – India in the project “United Board Heber Partnership for Environmental Action” a joint project of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, Hong Kong and Bishop Heber College, Tiruchirappalli from 2009 to 2016. He has

He has organized several Capacity Building Programmes in Campus Environmental Audit (CEA) / Green Audit and conducted / facilitated Campus Green Audit for various Colleges, Universities and Schools.

His special fields of interest include Ecology and Biodiversity, Wastewater Engineering, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Audit and Environmental Management. He has delivered several lectures in various academic forums and has organized several Environmental Conferences, Workshops and Seminars at National and International level. He has published 4 books and more than 85 research papers in reputed journals.

He was a Guest faculty teaching Environmental Impact Assessment for M. Tech Environmental Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli from January to May 2017.

He has participated in several Environmental Management programmes in The Netherlands (1987), France (1987), Italy (1987) USA (1998) and Thailand (2010) and underwent courses in Land Resources, Conservation biology, Global Environmental Development and Environmental Sustainability in Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies, Michigan, USA and Watershed Management in Alabama, USA.
