Dr. J. PRINCY MERLIN has been working as Associate Professor of Chemistry in Bishop Heber College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli for the past 30 years. She served as Principal in-charge from September 30 (with effect from afternoon) to December 18 forenoon and has been appointed as the Principal with effect from December 18, 2023 afternoon.
She has served as the Dean & Coordinator of IQAC since 2020 after serving as the Associate Dean for 5 years. She is an expert in Data Analysis pertaining to parameters of Institutional development and suggests measures to ensure quality in Academic and Administrative Practices of the College. Under her able Stewardship as Dean of IQAC, the College is Re-Accredited at the A ++ Grade by NAAC in the IV Cycle with the CGPA of 3.69 out of 4 and the College is Ranked 34th at National Level by MHRD through NIRF 2023.
She is also heading the Department of Chemistry since June 2018. As a recognized Research Adviser by the Bharathidasan University, she has Published 94 Scientific Articles in Journals of National & International repute (Citation -2550; h-index – 31; i10-index – 64). Under her able guidance 5 Ph.D Scholars and 23 M.Phil Scholars have been awarded the Degree. She has completed Two Major Projects (Funded by United Board (UBCHEA) & DST- WOS-A) and Two Minor Projects (Funded by UGC). Her areas of specialization are Material Science, Electrochemistry, Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs) and Supercapacitor Materials. She is awarded with an Indian Patent on ‘Recovery of Nano Particles from Leach Liquor’ in 2022. She has mentored one ‘Women Scientist’ for the prestigious Award by the Department of Science & Technology (DST-WOS-A)- Government of India. She is committed to the cause of Teaching and finds joy in spending time for moulding students and helping them realize their true potential.
