Dr. C. Ravi Dhas, Assistant Professor and Head, PG & Research Department of Physics, Bishop Heber College, Trichy, obtained his Ph.D in the field of thin film technology (2010). He joined Bishop Heber College in the year 1994 as Lecturer in Physics. He is expert in the field of Materials science and preparation of thin films using DC Sputtering, Electron beam evaporation, nebulizer spray pyrolysis, and preparation of metal oxide nanopowders using sol-gel & co-precipitation methods for various applications such as gas sensors, solar cells, photocatalytic dye degradation & water splitting. He has published more than 67 research articles in reputed international journals with an impact factor ranging from 0.830 to 4.493 achieving 1667 citations and a 22 h - index. He has presented more than 65 papers at National/ International Conferences and received 10 awards for paper presentation. He is acting as a reviewer for numerous reputed journals. He has authored a book entitled “Introduction to characterization of thin films and Nanomaterials”. He has also contributed a book chapter entitled “Synthesizing Green Photocatalyst using Plant Leaf Extract for Water Pollutant Treatment” in “Green photocatalysts”, Springer Publications. He has visited Dubai, Singapore and Australia for presenting papers and USA to deliver a lecture. He has received financial support from CSIR, DST and UGC for International travel to present research papers. He has completed 2 minor research projects and one major research project of worth Rs.11,25,800/- funded by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, India. Seven research scholars have completed their doctoral degrees under his guidance. Presently, he is guiding 2 students for their doctoral degree. He has successfully organized 15 conferences and 8 workshops as a convener in the college. He has organized an Indo-UK International conference on Advanced Nanomaterials for Energy, Environmental and Health care Applications. He is a member of the Indian Science Congress Association and Indian Physics Association and Board of Studies in various Colleges and Universities in and around Tamil
