Dr. Violet Dhayabaran, Dean of Sciences is working as Associate Professor of Chemistry, Bishop Heber College and heading the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. She completed her post graduation (M.Sc.) in 1990 as first set of the department of Chemistry at Bishop Heber College. She pursued her Doctoral degree in Chemistry in 2002 from Bharathidasan University. She joined at Bishop Heber College as Assistant Professor in the year 1991 and earned teaching experience of 27 years till 2018. In addition she worked for 3 years at BITS Pillani, Dubai Campus as Assistant Professor during 2006-2009. She availed one major and minor Projects in Chemistry from UGC and one ICMR Project in chemistry and Biotechnology. She produced one Ph.D., three submitted the thesis and three more are going to submit their thesis. She has been a life member of professional bodies like Society of Biological Chemists, Biotech research society, Bose Science society and Society of Advanced Oxiditive Process (AOP). She organized 3 International Conferences funded by UGC & DST – SERB and 3 National Conferences. In her credit, 34 research articles published in Peer Reviewed / International Journals and 28 in Conference Proceedings. She is a reviewer of the journal Spectrochimica Acta, Part A, She has been a Board of Study member for the Department of Bioinformatics in Bharathidasan University and Department of Chemistry in Holy Cross College. She is a resource person for various programs organized in Chemistry and Biotechnology and Bioinformatics.
She was in Hawai for a month to attend a leadership Training Programme organized by Haggai Institute, USA. She visited many countries to present paper in Conferences in US, UK, France, Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore. In the year 2016 she received Prof. C.N.R. Rao, Best Scientist award in Chemistry for the year 2016-2017 by BOSE Science Society.
