Description | Large deciduous tree up to 30-60 m height; Bark peel off, whitish grey, branchlets pubescent. Leaves alternate to sub-opposite, oblong or obovate-oblanceolate, thick-coriaceous, nerves 15 - 18 pairs, arcuate, glabrous. Inflorescence axillary spikes arranged in panicles up to 10 cm, bracteoles linear. Flowers small, pentamerous, bisexual, actinomorphic, compelete. Calyx tube - 2 mm, pubescent, lobes 5, cream, triangular, glabrous. Stamens - 10, filaments short 3mm. Ovary ovoid small, monocarpellary, ovules 2 or 3, pendulous, style - 4 mm. Drupe 5-angled, 5-winged, lines on wings oblique and curving upwards, apex notched. |
