Description | Small Evergreen Clustering dioecious palm up to 12m height, Bark greenish to greenish white, smooth. Leaves compound 5-11, strongly arching, sheath yellowish with white waxy bloom, petiolate, rachis regular stiff, leaf lets adaxially green and abaxially waxy and grey. Inflorescence interpetiolar, axillary panicles. Male flowers white pedicellate, sepals 3, hooded, rounded, keeled, petals 3, connate to receptacle, ovate, acute, stamens 6, uniseriate, filament short, anther yellowish white. Female flower, pedicellate, white, sepals 3, yellowish green, hooded, petals 3, free, orbicular or ovate, staminodes present, ovary tricarpellary, small, ovoid, style short, stigma capitate. Fruit drupe, yellow, ellipsoid with pointed end, endocarp fibrous. Seed 1, ovoid, with homogenous endosperm. |
