   DescriptionEvergreen perennial shrub grows up to 5m height, stem woody, cylindrical, bark brown. Leaves simple, petiolate, alternate, or spiral, ovate, apex acute, margin serrate, surface glossy. Inflorescence solitary. Flower pentamerous, bracteolate, bracteate, bisexual, hypogynous, actinomorphic, and complete. Calyx 5 sepals, lanceolate, petals 5, bright red colour, polypetalous, narrowed at base and broad at tip. Stamens many, filament united to form staminal column, anther kidney shaped and monothecous.
