The Centre for Music and Performing Arts at Bishop Heber College is a multi-disciplinary arts centre that provides innovative, diverse, and thought-provoking arts forms through education and performance opportunities that enable the Heber community to be engaged, inspired, and connected through the various forms of Arts.The Centre provides holistic training in Music, Dance, Theatre, and Craft to the Heber Community through Seminars, Workshops, Hands on Training sessions and Stage Performances.The Students of CEMPA are trained to acquire skills in Music composition, Solo Singing, Western Group Singing, Indian Group Singing, Folk Group Singing, Instrumental Play, and Fusion Music.In Dance, CEMPA students learn Classical Dance, Western Dance, and various forms of Folk Dance such as ParaiAattam, Silambaattam, KazhiyalAattam, Oyilaattam, and KaavadiAattam. In Theatre, CEMPA students are trained to act in Mime, Skit, Mimicry, One Act Play, and Street Play. In Crafts, CEMPA Students are trained in Collage, Paper Crafts, Rangoli, Nail art and Glass Art. Students of CEMPA regularly take part in Inter – Collegiate competitions to continuously hone their skills and improve their skills.Our illustrious Alumni include Cine Music Director, Mr. James Vasanthan and Cine Director Mr. A.R. Murugadoss, Mr. Erode Mahesh in Vijay TV, Ms. Poonguzhali in PuthiyaThalaimurai TV, who have gone onto establish themselves as Successful Film and Television Persona.


The Centre for Music and Performing Arts at Bishop Heber College is a multi-disciplinary arts facility that offers cutting-edge, interesting, and thought-provoking art forms through educational programmes and performance opportunities that help the Heber community become involved, inspired, and connected through the various forms of art.


The Center offers the Heber Community comprehensive training in music, dance, theatre, and craft through seminars, workshops, hands-on training sessions, and stage performances. The CEMPA students receive training to develop abilities in Solo Singing, Western Group Singing, Indian Group Singing, Folk Group Singing, Instrumental Playing, and Fusion Music.


Students in the CEMPA programme receive instruction in Classical Dance, Western Dance, and a Variety of Folk Dances, including the ParaiAattam, Silambaattam, KazhiyalAattam, Oyilaattam, and KaavadiAattam.


Students at the CEMPA receive theatre acting instruction in Mime, Skits, Mimicry, One-Act Plays, And Street Plays. Collage, Paper Crafts, Rangoli, Nail Art, and Glass Art are among the crafts in which CEMPA students receive training. For ongoing skill development and improvement, CEMPA students frequently compete in intercollegiate events.


Our esteemed alumni include Mr. James Vasanthan, Cine Music Director, Mr. A.R. Murugadoss, Mr. Erode Mahesh in Vijay TV, and Ms. Poonguzhali in PuthiyaThalaimurai TV, who have established themselves as Successful Cinema and Television Persona.

The Centre for Music and Performing Arts aims to enable students

  • To experience and grow in their curiosity, interest, and appreciation of both their own and other people's creative endeavours.
  • To investigate how to learn and develop the abilities necessary for producing visual and performing art through the processes of the arts.
  • To create both visual and performing arts
  • To use expressions, ideas, and ideologies from the performing and visual arts
  • To develop receptiveness to visual and performing art forms across time, place and cultures, and perceive the significance of these art forms as an integral part of life.
  • To reflect on, appreciate and assess their work and the work of others.


  • We believe that the presence of the arts in the Heber community improves the lives of all students and the standard of their educational experience.
  • We believe that engagement with various art forms is critical to the sustainability and enhancement of arts and cultural experiences in our Heber community.

Vision

In order to give the BHC community a platform, the Centre for Music and Performing Arts (CEMPA) aspires to become a world-class arts facility that enriches the BHC Community through live performances and visual arts. Furthermore it endeavours to create, produce, and deliver nationally acclaimed arts-integrated programmes that foster creativity, self-assurance, and problem-solving abilities in the BHC Community and in the classrooms.


Mission

The Centre for Music and Performing Arts (CEMPA) aims to involve a diverse group of BHC students, faculty, staff, and community members in the production and discourse of the arts.– empowering the artists, scholars, educators, audiences, and advocates who will shape the culture of the twenty-first century.
