Dr. D.Paul Dhayabaran is the Principal of Bishop Heber College, Trichy and he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics. He was born on September 15th, 1963. He successfully completed M.Sc. (Applied Mathematics), PGDCA and M.Phil. (Mathematics) at Bishop Heber College, Trichy. He finished his Ph.D. at the National Institute of Technology, Trichy. His educational qualifications include a Certificate Course on German language at Maxmuller Bhavan, Chennai. He has held various positions as Bursar and Programme Officer in the National Service Scheme.
Dr. Paul Dhayabaran’s areas of specialization are Differential Equations, Computational Mathematics, Operational Research and Graph Theory. He has been teaching for twenty five years in Bishop Heber College, Trichy. He has an overseas teaching experience of about three years and eight months, having worked in Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Dubai. He has visited different countries, namely, Singapore, UAE, United Kingdom, France and the United States of America.
Dr. Paul Dhayabaran has published fifteen papers in reputed International Journals. He has published three papers in the proceedings of International conferences. He has attended six International and nine National Conferences, Workshops and Symposiums. He has attended four Refresher, Orientation and Short term courses as well. He has published one book entitled Remedial Mathematics for the B.E. Biotech Students at BITS, Dubai. He has also carried out Collaborative Research along with his Research Guide, Dr. K. Murugesan (NITT) and Dr. D.J. Evans, Professor of Computing, Nottingham Trent University, UK, and has published seven papers. He has successfully guided one scholar towards his Ph.D. and has been guiding three students for their Ph.D. degrees. Five of his wards have completed their M.Phil under his guidance.
Dr. Paul Dhayabaran’s extra-curricular activities include Music and Elocution (at school). He represented his school in Hockey and also participated and won prizes in Staff Tennis and cricket Tournaments.
Dr. Paul Dhayabaran’s firm attitude towards the academic rigor promoted the institution to rank IV among Arts and Science colleges in India by the Ministry of Human Resource Development through NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework). His competence and ability enveloped with a mission lead the college to greater heights like being recognized by the UGC as “College of Excellence” the first among the affiliated Colleges in Bharathidasan University to hold the title. He is a humble leader. He has great passion for teaching. With immense vision he leads Bishop Heber College, Trichy.
Dr. F. Samuel Christopher, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Botany, has been working in this Institution since 1982. He has done his B. Sc, M. Sc and M. Phil at St. Joseph’s College, Trichy and obtained Ph.D. at the Bharathidasan University, Trichy.
His areas of interest are Plant Morphogenesis, Plant Cell and Molecular Biology. So far he has published 6 papers in reputed journals and authored chapters in 2 books. 12 students have done their project under him for their M. Phil degree. He is also a regular visitor to neighbouring colleges in Trichy to deliver lectures on topics of current interest in Botany.
Besides Botany he is also interested in music and games. He has been the staff in charge for the college Fine Arts team for 12 years. He is a tenor singer in “Singspirations” a leading choir in Trichy. He is a good tennis player.
Dr. A. Relton joined the Bishop Heber College in 1984 as lecturer. He is currently Associate professor and Head of the department of Social Work and his area of specialisation is Clinical social work. He is also the Honorary Director of Heber Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies a collaborative initiative by Au Sable Institute of Environmental studies, USA and Bishop Heber College.
He is an international faculty and involved in teaching ecology courses to US and UK students. He has presented papers at various national and international conferences.
He has served as NSS officer and NCC officer (Air Wing) of the college in the past decades. He has also served as wildlife warden of Tiruchirappalli forest division for 6 years.
He is Authored a book on Birds of Bishop Heber College and co-authored a book on Butterflies of Bishop Heber College. He is an avid bird watcher and interested in wildlife photography.
Bursar, Bishop Heber College and Associate Professor, PG and Research Dept. of Chemistry, has been working in this Institution since 2000.Prior to joining Bishop Heber, Dr.Isaiah was a QA Manager in a multinational Food Industry in the Arabian Gulf from 1993-2000. He did his B. Sc., Chemistry in Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, M.Sc. and M.Phil. at Madras Christian College, Chennai and obtained Ph.D. at the Bharathidasan University, Trichy.
During the last 15 years, in addition to teaching, he shouldered different responsibilities in the College such as Adviser CE society, Convener -Student Help Line, Staff Adviser to Chemistry Association, Member, Anti-ragging Committee, Governing Board Member, Heber Ausable Institute of Environment Science and Associate Dean for International Relations.
As Research Adviser in PG and Research Department of Chemistry, Dr. Isaiah is presently guiding three scholars towards their Ph.D. in Cosmetic, Chemical Sensors and phytochemistry. He has guided successfully 30 M.Sc. Projects, 8 M. Phil. Scholars. Published 10 papers in peer reviewed journals and presented more than 50 research findings in National and International Conferences.Dr. Isaiah has also recently registered two patents.
Professionally, Dr. Isaiah is a member of doctoral committee for 20 research scholars in Bharathidasan University to review their research progress. He is a Member of Board of Studies of PG& Research Department of Chemistry , Bishop Heber College , was Member Board of Studies-Rajah’s College, Pudukottai 2010-2012, Nehru Memorial College, Puthanmpatti(2014-16), & Selvam Arts and Science College, Namakal, Periyar university(2013-15).
Dr. Isaiah towards fulfilling his social responsibility to society ,he was the founder secretary of Vasan Nagar Welfare Association from 2005-2012.He was instrumental in bringing various welfare schemes to Vasan Nagar,including roads, over headwatertank, Electricity - transformers, and Bus service. He has organized more than 10 free medical camps for the people of Nachikurichi and Vasan Nagar, 2 Sterilization camps for stray dogs using International animal rescue organization, he was also responsible for planting 200 trees in Vasan Nagar.
Dr.S.Isaiah is a committed Christian and he has a passion to serve the Lord through the Church. He is presently a member of CSI St. Luke’s church pastorate, Trichy Tanjore Diocese. During this period, he served two terms as the PC Treasurer from Feb 2010 to April 2014. He is currently the Secretary of CSI St. Luke’s Church. During his period as the Treasurer and Secretary, he was responsible for completing Rs.35 lakhs worth parsonage, Rs.51 lakhs Church Cemetery and 42 lakhs worth wooden benches for the church.
Dr. Isaiah is the Invited Resource person for Staff Workshops / Staff Seminars / Orientation Courses. He is a soft skill trainer, resource person for career guidance and motivational talks to UG and PG students. God is using him as his servant to preach the Gospel in churches and other congregations. He conducts retreat for families and youth in Colleges and Schools.
